Stroud, in his second year, experienced a slight regression, finishing 15th in both passing yards (3,727) and touchdowns (20). This decline came after a rookie season where he posted 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns. The offensive line's inability to protect Stroud was evident as he was sacked 52 times and faced pressure on 38.6% of his dropbacks, according to Next Gen Stats.

Wide Receiver Woes

The wide receiver corps, despite the promising trio of Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Stefon Diggs, was plagued by injuries. The group managed to play together for only three full weeks, significantly limiting the offense’s effectiveness. Stefon Diggs’ season-ending ACL injury in Week 8 and Dell’s knee dislocation in Week 16 were particularly impactful.

With the departure of offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, the Texans have brought in Nick Caley from the Los Angeles Rams. Caley’s focus will be on improving the pass game and enhancing the tight end's role in the offense.
