Williams F1 Reveals 2025 FW47 in One-Off Livery at Silverstone
Williams F1 has officially unveiled its 2025 Formula 1 car, the FW47, in a unique one-off livery during a private launch event at Silverstone. This marks a significant moment for the team as they gear up for the upcoming season with high hopes. The car was revealed in an interim color scheme, as all ten F1 teams have agreed to keep their official race liveries under wraps until the season's official launch event in London on February 18.
Carlos Sainz Joins Williams
The FW47 will be driven by Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, with the latter making a highly anticipated move from Ferrari to Williams during the off-season. Sainz, who spent four years with Ferrari, has been a sought-after driver in the F1 market, especially following Lewis Hamilton's unexpected move to replace him at Maranello in 2025.
First Laps at Silverstone
The team took the FW47 for its first laps around the Silverstone circuit on Friday, utilizing a promotional filming day. Sainz, after completing an installation lap, expressed his initial thoughts: “Everything went fine, which is good news. The first lap of a newly born car is a bit tricky, but everything worked as it should, and now we’re ready to get into a run plan.”
2025 Goals and Beyond
Williams finished ninth in the constructors' championship last year, struggling to maximize their car's performance throughout the season. However, team principal James Vowles has consistently emphasized that Williams is focused on achieving success in 2026, when new regulations could shake up the competitive order.
New Title Sponsor and Upcoming Season
The Silverstone launch followed the announcement of a new title sponsor, Atlassian, marking the team's first major sponsorship deal since their short-lived partnership with Rokit ended in 2020. The 2025 F1 season will kick off in Australia on March 16, with pre-season testing set to begin in Bahrain on February 26.
